The rarely produced play from the 10th century was written by prominent Medieval writer Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim, who is considered the first post-classical dramatist as well as the first known female playwright!
It tells the story of Sapientia (Wisdom), who comes to Rome to teach love and truth, but who the local rulers, Emperor Hadrian and his henchman Antiochus, try to silence by torturing her three daughters Fides (Faith), Spes (Hope) and Caritas (Charity).
We are currently in the early stages of development for this new project planned for 2016.
Further details to follow in due course, so stay tuned!
