The core of the production will be an adaptation of Chekhov's One Act Farce The Proposal. The difference being in our version this is set in future Russia, when the country has become a leading example of equality and we have a woman proposing to another woman .
Dates are 7th to 11th October with rehearsals starting in September.
As we have an overall slot of up to 60 minutes (Tue to Sat at 7.30pm, with Sat matinée at 3.30pm) and the play would run at around 30/35 minutes, it would be accompanied by one or two pieces of new writing on same sex marriage (exact details tbc). The original plan was to have one director overall for all pieces, but we would also be up for having one director for the main play and then someone else for the accompanying piece/s.
It is a low-budget production, so we'd be looking at very basic set and costume etc. Payment-wise it would be a profit-share. Part of the cast is confirmed and part still to be cast.
