Our producer, writers and one of our directors tell you more about the creation and background of the show. FORESEEN runs at The Hen & Chickens Theatre from 22nd to 24th August at 6pm. Three nights only, so make sure to book your tickets asap! Goblin Baby Theatre Co. is looking for a director for our upcoming production in October 2014 at The Hen & Chickens Theatre. The core of the production will be an adaptation of Chekhov's One Act Farce The Proposal. The difference being in our version this is set in future Russia, when the country has become a leading example of equality and we have a woman proposing to another woman . Dates are 7th to 11th October with rehearsals starting in September. As we have an overall slot of up to 60 minutes (Tue to Sat at 7.30pm, with Sat matinée at 3.30pm) and the play would run at around 30/35 minutes, it would be accompanied by one or two pieces of new writing on same sex marriage (exact details tbc). The original plan was to have one director overall for all pieces, but we would also be up for having one director for the main play and then someone else for the accompanying piece/s. It is a low-budget production, so we'd be looking at very basic set and costume etc. Payment-wise it would be a profit-share. Part of the cast is confirmed and part still to be cast. If interested or you have further questions email us at info@goblinbaby.com With one project coming to an end we are already in the middle of working on the next one!
Our upcoming production FORESEEN will present four dark, comic, post-apocalyptic new short plays and will run as part of the Camden Fringe at The Hen & Chickens Theatre from 22nd to 24th August at 6pm. Many thanks yo our fantastic team and to everyone who came to watch and support the production! ★★★★ "The world is full of women with no voice of their own or no one to speak on their behalf. First of all we had a series of interviews with various of the creatives involved and giving lots of further background details on the production and our journey to create it:
Furthermore, the production also received great reviews! ★★★★ The superstitiously secular, domestic world of Claire Booker’s The Devil and Stepashka manages to create a believable male Antigone in what ends up to be very literally one hell of a double-bind. - Exeunt Magazine on The Devil & Stepashka (June 2014) ★★★★ The production is gripping and thought-provoking from beginning to end and left the audience with something to ponder and think on. (...) [Claire] Booker’s play is very brave as well as unusual and this production is one of those hidden gems on the London Fringe. Inspired by Tolstoy's The Devil, Claire Booker's play explores what happens when passion crosses over into obsession and - in keeping with the company's focus on political theatre - whether justice can ever be obtained within an inherently corrupt society. (...) The Devil & Stepaskha is an intriguing new work which leaves you alarmed that such obvious madness could play out so dangerously. |
